FairLex is committed to democratizing legal knowledge and fostering inclusive participation in legal discourse. This policy outlines our equity commitments.

Access and Inclusion

FairLex provides free, public access to all editorial content. We believe legal knowledge should not be restricted by paywall or subscription. We maintain this commitment while exploring sustainable models to support independent journalism and contributor compensation.

We actively seek contributions from diverse backgrounds—law students, junior advocates, academics, judges, policy experts, and non-traditional legal voices. We encourage submissions from underrepresented communities and marginalized perspectives within legal discourse, particularly on issues affecting historically disadvantaged groups.

Editorial Representation

Our editorial board and regular contributors include women, non-binary individuals, members of religious minorities, and professionals from various socioeconomic backgrounds. We believe diverse editorial teams produce better analysis and avoid blind spots.

We are mindful of geographic representation. While FairLex focuses on Indian law, we recognize that legal expertise and perspectives exist across all states and communities. We actively solicit contributions from underrepresented regions.

Fair Compensation

FairLex recognizes that legal writing is skilled labor. While our current stage relies on many volunteer contributors, we are working toward fair compensation models for authors. We prioritize compensating contributors whose livelihoods depend on publication income.

Avoiding Conflicts of Interest

We do not publish content that is explicitly commissioned by political parties, corporate clients, or institutional actors with financial interest in legal outcomes, unless clearly labeled as opinion or advocacy. We maintain editorial independence and resist pressure from powerful institutions.

Language Accessibility

Currently, FairLex publishes in English. We recognize this limits accessibility for non-English speakers. We are exploring ways to make content available in Indian languages while maintaining editorial quality. We welcome discussions on how to expand linguistic accessibility.
